RFID time and door access
RFID time tracking and door access. One badge, one local system.
Use a compatible RFID badge to clock in, select job codes, and request access at mapped doors or enclosures. The GRIT Hub applies schedules locally and keeps time and entry records together.
The challenge
Manual time and access systems are failing you.
Manufacturing facilities with hourly employees face the same problems every day: inaccurate time records, keys that get lost, and zero visibility into who’s on-site.
Payroll headaches
Manual time clocks and paper timesheets lead to errors, disputes, and overtime surprises. Time theft alone costs more than most companies realize.
Key management chaos
Who has keys? Which doors do they open? When someone leaves, do you re-key the whole building? Physical keys create ongoing security headaches.
After-hours blind spots
Who’s in the building at 2 AM? In an emergency, you need to know who’s on-site — not guess from a parking lot head count.
No job code granularity
Employees split time between projects and tasks — but paper timesheets make it nearly impossible to track where the hours actually went.
Shared or manual time entries
Individual badge events create a clearer time record than a shared paper sheet, while the facility still controls credential-issuance and review policy.
Rip-and-replace fatigue
Every vendor wants you to replace your locks, your time clocks, your entire setup. You need a system that works with what you have.
The solution
One system. Two solutions. Same badge.
GRIT SignOn handles both time tracking and door access through a single RFID badge. Use them together or start with one and add the other when you’re ready.
Time tracking
Track every hour. Automatically.
Employees badge in at the SignOn kiosk when they arrive, badge out when they leave. Shift hours calculated to the second. Job codes let them log time against specific projects or cost centers.
- Badge tap clock-in and clock-out
- Job code tracking per shift
- Overtime calculation and alerts
- CSV export for payroll integration
- Timesheet approval workflows
- Real-time shift dashboard
Door access
Control every door. Keep your locks.
GRIT can control compatible powered-to-lock or powered-to-unlock hardware. A site review confirms the latch, power supply, egress, fire-alarm, and code requirements.
- BYOL — Bring Your Own Latch: works with your existing latches
- Per-door, per-user permission control
- Scheduled access windows
- Granted and denied badge-in history
- Local permission management
- Compatibility review for each opening
Better together
The same GRIT Track credential can support SignOn and compatible door access. Each workflow keeps its own configured action and record.
Step by step
How it works.
Employee taps a GRIT Track reader or SignOn kiosk. The configured workflow records the badge event and, for SignOn, starts the timecard.
At the SignOn kiosk, employees select a job code for time allocation. Switch codes mid-shift with another tap.
The SignOn view shows active timecards while compatible door readers retain their own granted and denied badge-in events.
Shift end. Employee taps out at any reader or kiosk. Hours calculated to the second, including job code splits. Overtime flagged automatically.
Supervisors review timesheets on the dashboard. Approve, flag discrepancies, or add notes. All changes tracked with an audit trail.
One-click CSV export with hours, job codes, overtime, and approval status. Your data, your format.
Capabilities
Built for manufacturing. Built to retrofit.
BYOL — Bring Your Own Latch
Retrofit compatible powered-to-lock or powered-to-unlock mechanisms after the door hardware and life-safety requirements are reviewed.
To-the-second accuracy
RFID badge taps are timestamped at the hardware level. Every shift start, break, and clock-out is exact.
Job code tracking
Track hours against projects, departments, or cost centers. Switch codes mid-shift without clocking out.
Works with existing badges
HID proximity cards, existing employee IDs, NFC-enabled phones. No new credentials to issue.
Active timecards
Review who is currently signed on and the job code associated with the active timecard. This is not a building-occupancy or muster system.
Payroll-ready export
CSV exports with hours, overtime, job codes, approval status — one click and it’s ready for processing.
Controlled corrections
Authorized staff can correct or delete timecard entries when needed. Administrative actions remain permission controlled.
Local permission management
Manage users, badges, job codes, and compatible latch permissions through the on-site GRIT system.
Hardware
The gear behind the solution.
Industrial-grade, plug-and-play hardware. Designed and assembled in the USA.
Who it is for
From factory floors to campus labs.
Manufacturing & warehousing
Track hourly employees across shifts, control facility entry points, and export clean timesheets to payroll. The same badge that opens the door starts the clock.
Commercial
- Shift-based time tracking with job codes
- Job code cost allocation
- Payroll CSV export
- Multi-door facility access
Labs, shops & makerspaces
Track student lab hours for accreditation. Control after-hours access to shops and labs. Use existing student IDs as badges — zero new credentials to manage.
Education
- Accreditation-ready hour logs
- Student ID as badge
- Scheduled lab access windows
- Usage data for budget justification
The GRIT philosophy
Meet your infrastructure where it is.
GRIT starts with the compatible locks, doors, and employee credentials already in use. The GRIT Latch controls the reviewed powered latch mechanism, a matched GRIT Track reader handles the supported credential format, and the Hub keeps the workflow and records local.
That’s what GRITified means: your existing infrastructure, made smart, made accountable, made modern — without starting over.
Ecosystem
Part of the complete GRIT platform.
Time tracking and door access integrate seamlessly with GRIT’s full suite of workshop automation.
